AURORA 101 DRAWS THE SUN (AND HEAT) TO JECO FESTIVAL

8 FEBRUARY 2004

The Jewish Ecological Coalition invited the Aurora team to present their Aurora 101 solar car as the leading exhibit at their first eco festival on 8 February 2004.

Tremendous organisation went into the program for this festival. It featured a panel of speakers, a range of large outdoor displays, many indoor displays and entertainment. The festival was staged at the Leo Baeck Centre in Harp Road, East Kew.

There was great interest in the Melbourne based Aurora 101 solar car display. Aurora team members Simon Liley, Seona Candy, Paul Jolly and David Fewchuk were on hand to answer questions and to explain the present Aurora program 'Beaming'. The educational tour of Tasmania in March and the pre Olympic solar car race in Greece in May were hits with the people attending.

We were staged opposite the Solar Shuttle display which were demonstrating other solar powered devices including a radio.

Liberal Party member and Federal representative for Kooyong the Hon Petro Georgiou opened the festival. He then showed great interest in the fact that Aurora 101 would be racing in Greece his own country of birth.

This was quite a success as a first time event and JECO will be encouraged to do it again. Did we say it was hot. Sure was.
