2003 School Visit

AURORA 101 VISITS NAMBROOK DENNISON PRIMARY SCHOOL

4 November, 2003

On Melbourne Cup day the Aurora Solar Car was taken to the Nambrook Dennison Primary School. The School has around 100 students and is located in the Dairy Farming district of Central Gippsland.

The Students had been following Aurora during the World Solar Challenge and were keen to see the car. Natalia, 8, who attends the school was keen to explain the various features of the car and took the lead in the presentations.

Students were keen to know about the car, how fast, how do you drive it and how hot does it get. The Grade 6 Students are building a billy cart as part of their technology studies and I explained that the Aurora is where this billy cart builder ended up.

Farming districts have a keen interest in Science and Technology as it touches their daily lives. The area around the school in having a Solar Powered Water Irrigation Water Management System trailed and panels can be seen standing among grazing cows.
